Mark Your Calendar for Dec. 13
The annual Winter Market On The Farm at Ithika Acres Creamery takes place that day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there’s good reason it’s one of the most popular December events in Hoke County.
Family friendly, no admission charge, free parking, handicapped access, animal petting areas, children’s scavenger hunt, local vendors and much more make it an ideal weekend getaway on Saturday, Dec. 13. There’s no patience-testing long drive required, either. The address is 4273 Gainey Road, roughly 12-minutes west of downtown Raeford.
The kids will have a blast decorating ornaments and scouring the area in a fun farm scavenger hunt. Double bonus points on this one. Lessons will be learned on where food isn’t magically produced by elves in the freezer aisle. Add animal petting areas and some of the pre-holiday energy bubbling from youngsters—by then exhausting mom and dad—will vanish.
Local craftsmen and women will show their wares and answer questions. It’s a one-stop opportunity to support local business, meet your neighbors and find something for that hard-to-buy-for loved one on your holiday shopping list. Hayrides for the entire family—for a nominal fee—are also available and a great way to launch a tradition.
Browsing the booths and participating in the activities will undoubtedly work up an appetite. Food trucks will also be on hand, ready to refuel and warm tummies.
Donations are encouraged to help fuel the event’s return. In keeping with the holiday spirit, however, 50 percent of all money donated will be handed over charities to continue their work.
It’s an opportunity to shop local and discover one of Hoke County’s true gems during the holiday season. Don’t miss the magic.
