Hoke County commissioners Southerland and Leach had law enforcement escort a woman out and promptly ended public comments afterward—halting one voter mid-sentence and silencing others in line.
I just sent your post about Leach’s actions at the commissioners meeting last night in an email to Rep. Garland Pierce asking him if Leach’s actions were legal. I will let you know what the response is.
That doesn’t surprise me! I hope Pierce is too much of a politician to want to deal with unhappy constituents. At the least, maybe sharing your post will give Pierce a heads up that all is not as Leach says in Hoke County!
They are abusing the statue for commissioner meeting’s. It does state that people can be removed for disruptive behavior which clearly wasn’t. He stated the class 2 misdemeanor that’s only in the case of the person refuses to leave.

Thank you. From what I understand, though, Pierce and Leach are pretty close.
His aide sent me a copy of the statute! I have replied asking if they could tell me whether Leach’s actions were within the intent of the statute.
Holy cow, that's more than I've ever gotten out of his office.
Haha!
You took the words right out my mouth.
