Folks this is really getting worse by the minute. Early this morning, Aug. 15, a water main on Arabia broke. Now, minutes ago (1:52 p.m. the same day) another water main broke on Laurinburg and Turnpike according to the Hoke County website. The storm's gone, sunny day and water's out for more residents and the commissioners continue to ignore comments from firefighters. Pray there are no fires until the people who actually care (county employees out there digging right in the heat), get the mess the commission makes in air-conditioned comfort temporarily patched up.

I've read elsewhere that volunteer firefighters in Puppy Creek were recently assessing how to get to the Black Branch subdivision since the road had flooded due to the latest tropical depression. Neighbors who backed up to the subdivision were asked to allow passage through their property to access Black Branch in an emergency. Our firefighters are outstanding and should be commended for speaking up on the dire situation that the rapid expansion of the county is placing the community in.
And I was told the fine folks who owned homes and property that needed to be crossed were more than willing to let firefighters have access. Thankfully, it wasn't needed, but a big and sincere thank you goes out to each of them....they care about their neighbors, even those they've never had the pleasure of meeting.
Hope their faces on those buildings we paid for were worth losing their seats over. This board is self over sacrifice when as a public servant and elected officials it should be sacrifice over self!

Mr. Leach has term Limits. He is simply an angry old man with power. Father time will eventually remove him.
That seems to be the issue, there are not term limits.
I wonder if there's a way to make them a rule/law in Hoke County? Voter initiative?
